“What is the learning experience in your school?”

Whether it is in the classroom, the staff room, at faculty meetings or in the parking lot, our students, parents and educators have dozens of experiences with our schools each day.  Yet with growing curricula, shrinking budgets, students with more diverse needs, and broadening parental and societal expectations, schools and districts have never been more challenged to find ways to design the authentic and unforgettable learning experiences for our entire school community. So where do we start?

In this upbeat and interactive session, participants will look outside of education into the field of design to discover how they can create innovative learning experiences in their schools. Participants will use the Learner-Centered Design (LCD) model to develop their capacity to appreciate the experiences of the learners in their schools, to become designers of immersive learning tasks, and to re-think their approach to resisters of change. By looking ‘outside of the box’ while embracing the parameters ‘inside of the box’, participants will learn to co-create and model the engaging learning environments we want for each of our learners in the K-12 system.
